Whether you’re reading this because you’re gluten intolerant, suffer from PVFS or CFS, are starting to grow your own veggies, embracing natural and/or alternative remedies, or just want to enjoy the journey with us, please remember I’m not a medical expert, nor am I here to debate global warming. Being diagnosed with a life-changing illness, looking for answers or changing the way one lives can all be overwhelming events, so I hope that by sharing the triumphs and tragedies, you too will benefit in some way from our journey.

I hope you enjoy the journey and if you leave this blog having learnt only one new recipe or started to think about finding your star, then this blog’s purpose has been served.

My two favourite sayings:
Pondering the choices we make at the crossroads is like revision in the school of life. Regretting the mistakes or taking for granted the successes means we have learnt nought.
An attentive student will gain wisdom from the mistakes and joy from the successes. Cartillyer – 2008

Too Long Between Posts!

It’s been a while between posts, but every now and then drama in my children’s lives reminds me that I’m also a full-time mother, so blog, study, and anything else that consumes me gets put on hold while I don my ‘Mum/Mummy/Mother’ hat.

The Apprentice is no longer an apprentice (she graduated), so a new blog name will soon be appearing for her. She’s kept me busy writing and designing, and holding her hand at her first couple of markets as she starts her new business venture. (More on that in a later post.)

The Junior Accountant, who may need a new blog name in the not so faraway future, has recently lost her job, so when I’m not writing copy for The Apprentice’s business, I’m updating Junior Accountant’s resume.

Miss Flora still refuses to poop in the potty and Tomboy has become all ‘emo’ as we near the end of her first school year. Boywonder’s testosterone has started to surge and with it constant screeching and howls of pain as he stirs Tomboy incessantly and she retaliates. Somewhere amongst all this, I'm still trying to devote time to my ghostwriting job as I prepare for Christmas.

Mr T nears the end of a work contract he managed to secure after his redundancy and I literally limp towards the end of the year with a bad case of plantar fasciitis.

Despite the end of year dramas, we can still count on one of the children to make us laugh.

The kids have taken a liking to Maple Crunch, a gluten free cereal. Two days ago, Boywonder told me he wanted the ‘square stuff with three little holes in it’ for breakfast. I told him it’s called Maple Crunch.

Yesterday, he again requested the ‘square stuff with three little holes in it’.  Again, I told him it’s called Maple Crunch.

The same thing happened again this morning. Ten minutes later I told Mr T about it, so he asked Boywonder what he wanted for breakfast to which Boywonder replied, ‘the square stuff with three little holes in it.’

Once again, I told him it was called ‘Maple Crunch’.

Just to test his memory, I asked him again and he face-palmed himself as he realised he’d already forgotten the name.

When Tomboy woke up, I asked her what she wanted for breakfast, and she said, ‘Weetbix’.

I said, ‘You don’t want the square stuff with three little holes that Boywonder can never remember the name of?’

She replied, ‘Maple Crunch? Yes please’.

I promise I will have my next post “The First Steps of Lifestyle Change” up in the next few days.
